Apprenticeships

An apprenticeship is a great way to kick start your career. With combined formal learning and on-the-job training, your journey will be supported by a great crew and professional training team. You will continue to grow and develop your skills and experience that will lead you into a skilled tradesperson.

All apprenticeship roles are four-year programs which combine structured nationally recognised training with on-the-job experience. South32 are offering the following Trade Apprenticeships in 2026:

Available at Worsley Alumina Refinery (Collie):

Available at Worsley Alumina Boddington Bauxite Mine (Boddington):

  • Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanic (Certificate III in Mobile Plant Technology)
  • Electrical (Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician)

Traineeships

Our traineeships work towards a nationally recognised qualification and are designed to learn the skills required to operate a chemical process plant and build a future career in the industry.

Our Trainees receive supportive leadership and quality on the job training, coaching, and mentoring from our qualified Operators, Coaches and Trainers.

Assessment days take place in Collie at the Refinery up to three times per year.
