We’re delighted to have seen a big increase in the number of women working in what used to be male-dominated areas of our operations.

At our South Africa Energy Coal Klipspruit Colliery, we have over 60 women in operator or production related roles.

Nomsa Masuku, one of the first ever female operators at Klipspruit, is pleased to be part of a team that’s committed to the development of women and supports their progression.

"It's great to work for a company that is truly creating an inclusive workplace.

"I like to motivate my female colleagues - to show them that we can do whatever men can do. It is worth the effort to get trained as an operator, to improve ourselves at work, and ultimately, our lives in general," Nomsa said.

At Worsley Alumina's Boddington Bauxite Mine in Western Australia, we now have an all-female drilling crew, challenging the perception that drilling activities are for 'men only'.

The team uses a new drill rig built with improvements in ergonomics and functions to enhance its usability by a more diverse workforce.

We’re pleased to say that the crew was a finalist in the Outstanding Company Initiative category for the 2017 Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia Women in Resources Awards.
