Worsley Alumina's 'Connection to Country'

27 OCTOBER 2021

Our beautiful new painting representing Worsley Alumina's connection to country

Worsley Alumina 'Connection to Country'

In 2021, our Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group commissioned a painting by talented Western Australian, Melissa Riley, a proud Noongar woman from the Gnaala Karla Booja Region. Named ‘Connection to Country’, the painting represents our Worsley Alumina operation’s connection to Country through Indigenous heritage and the significant role it plays in its local community. It reflects the beauty of the land and waters that surround Worsley’s refinery - from the pinks of the wildflowers to the blues of the waterways, all the vibrant colours have a special meaning.

Watch this video to hear Melissa’s moving description:

In September 2020, we published our Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan, which builds on our previous commitments as we embed reconciliation activities in our core business practices and decision-making.
