Some passionate employees at our African operations commemorated Women's Month in August 2016 by creating a video to celebrate the gender diversity within the geology discipline.

In the Africa Region, 50% of our geologists are women.

CEO Graham Kerr was inspired by the enthusiasm of the participants. "I loved this video. It made me proud to be part of South32 and what we can achieve together," he said.

South Africa commemorates Women's Month in August as a tribute to the thousands of women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956 in protest against the extension of Pass Laws to women. This historic march was a turning point in the role of women in the struggle for freedom and society at large.
