Supporting flood response efforts in NSW, Australia

15 JULY 2022

We've donated $600,000 to the NSW flood response efforts

We are proud to donate A$600,000 to support flood response and recovery efforts in NSW, Australia.

The donation will be split between the Salvation Army to assist its frontline emergency response, and Australian Red Cross to help with recovery and building community resilience to future disasters and emergencies in New South Wales.

Illawarra Metallurgical Coal Vice President Operations Peter Baker said, “Our thoughts are with all those impacted by flooding in New South Wales. Many communities in New South Wales are still recovering from major flooding that occurred earlier this year and this latest rainfall has brought renewed, and in some cases devastating impacts for residents and businesses across the state.

“Our thoughts are also with all of the emergency service staff and volunteers, the Salvation Army and the Red Cross, working so hard to keep communities in New South Wales safe. We are proud to lend a helping hand by making this donation to assist the response and recovery efforts.”

The New South Wales Government has announced natural disaster declarations in 37 local government areas across the Sydney, Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley, Illawarra, South Coast and Southern Highland regions following significant rainfall and flooding in early July.
