Encouraging young people in Mozambique to be healthy and active
Our Mozal Aluminium operation in Mozambique has sponsored the National Basketball Championship season, helping to grow and develop the sport locally and encouraging young people in the region to be healthy and active.
This year’s winning team, Ferroviário-de-Maputo, will now represent Mozambique on the world stage, taking part at the end of the year in a qualification tournament for a new basketball league in Africa.
The Basketball Africa League will begin play in January 2020 and feature 12 teams from countries across the region. It is a collaboration between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and The International Basketball Federation.
Mozal Aluminium awarded Ferroviário-de-Maputo a check of MZN 600,000.
