Safer walking and cycling is now a reality
Not too long ago, cyclists and pedestrians shared a busy roadway with cars and other vehicles when traveling between Mount Kembla and our Dendrobium Mine in Illawarra, New South Wales, Australia (NSW). So we partnered with Wollongong City Council and the State Government’s Restart NSW Resources for Regions Programme to improve access with a shared bike and walking path.
The result is a path that links the Mount Kembla village to neighbouring townships via the Memorial Pathway – another community project funded by us, with the Dendrobium Community Enhancement Programme. Completion of the shared path realises our vision to provide the communities surrounding our operations with a pedestrian and cycle pathway network, giving locals a much safer, healthier way to get around.
