04 JUNE 2026
National Reconciliation Week, held annually from 27 May to 3 June, provided an opportunity for our people across Australia to come together, reflect and take meaningful action towards reconciliation.
Guided by this year’s theme, All In, activities across the country encouraged conversation, connection and a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and perspectives.
From shared experiences in our offices to community-focused events at our operations, the week reinforced that reconciliation is everyone’s responsibility and that meaningful progress is achieved when we work together.
At GEMCO in the Northern Territory, National Reconciliation Week was marked through a series of activities celebrating Indigenous culture and strengthening community connections. Employees, families and community members came together to share food and participate in activities that highlighted local culture, traditions and the importance of reconciliation.
Later in the week, a group of GEMCO women were treated to a special morning on Country with Bush Medijina, an Indigenous owned and women-led business, to learn about and harvest native plants, followed by time to participate in the production of its skincare products.
Across our Worsley Alumina and Cannington operations, involvement in community activities and open conversations reinforced the value of partnerships, listening and shared learning as we continue our reconciliation journey.
These activities provided opportunities for people to deepen their understanding of reconciliation and reflect on the role each of us can play in creating positive change.
In Perth, representatives from the Perth office and Worsley attended the annual NRW Breakfast, where they heard powerful stories and perspectives from First Nations speakers.
Our partnership with Reconciliation WA supports the staging of the breakfast, which brings together leaders from industry, government and the community to promote dialogue and action on reconciliation.
Back at the Perth office, employees gathered to watch a live stream of the breakfast, creating space for reflection, discussion and shared learning.
While National Reconciliation Week provides an important focus on reconciliation each year, it is an ongoing commitment. By being all in, we can continue to make meaningful progress together, not just during this week, but every week.
