Matt Daley commences as South32 CEO

01 JULY 2026

Matt Daley has commenced as South32 Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD), effective 1 July 2026, marking the completion of our CEO transition plan.

Since joining South32 as Deputy CEO in February 2026, Matt has overseen our Australian and African operations. During this time, he has visited our operations and offices, engaged with our people, and met with key investors and stakeholders across the jurisdictions in which we operate.

While Graham Kerr stepped down as CEO and MD on 30 June 2026, he will continue as a strategic advisor to support engagements related to the agreement to sell South32’s aluminium value chain assets.

Stephen Pearce, South32 Chair, said:

“It’s been a pleasure to welcome Matt to South32. He brings extensive operational and leadership experience, including in copper and across the Americas and is a highly accomplished executive. He has already demonstrated a thoughtful and engaged leadership style and a strong commitment to our people and operations – with a clear focus on safety.

“The Board is confident he is the right person to lead South32 through its next phase.

“With our CEO transition complete, I’d like to acknowledge the outstanding contribution Graham has made to South32 over more than a decade of service, and the way he has worked with Matt during the transition period. On behalf of the Board, I thank him for his leadership of our business.”
