Hillside Aluminium supporting future leaders

Graduates are one step closer to their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs

Young people within the local community around our Hillside Aluminium operation in South Africa are one step closer to their dreams of becoming entrepreneurs.

Fifty students recently graduated from the first stage of our Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship Program, which provides participants with the skills to start their own business or forge a career in business management.

Participants develop skills in accounting, marketing, human resources and communication, and receive mentoring from a business coach.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Hillside Aluminium Vice President Operations, Calvin Mkhabela said: “What makes this program different to what we’re doing in other skills development initiatives is that it enables youth to become employers, not employees, which increases job opportunities.”

Upon completion of stage one students received a Higher Certificate in Business Management.

They will now enter the second stage of the program, which is designed to set participants up to have a viable business at the end of the course.

The program was launched in June 2018.
