In the places we operate, we believe it’s important to provide disaster relief – to help our employees, their families and people in local communities get back on their feet when the worst strikes.
In February 2019, North Queensland experienced devastating floods. We donated AUD$1,000,000 to assist with the immediate response in Townsville where many of our people from our Cannington operation live as well as the longer-term efforts in and around Cannington.
Similarly, in Mozambique, although not directly impacting communities surrounding our Mozal operation, Cyclone Idai had significant impacts on Mozambique. To help with recovery efforts, we donated US$250,000 to a local humanitarian institution which provided immediate support with food and water shortages and restoring infrastructure.
