Brightening the lives of seriously ill children and young people across Australia

16 AUGUST 2022

We’ve renewed our sponsorship of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, helping to support the health and wellbeing of young people across Australia and New Zealand.

We’ve renewed our sponsorship of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, helping to support the health and wellbeing of young people across Australia and New Zealand.

We have been proud to partner with the Starlight Children’s Foundation since 2019, supporting its mission to brighten the lives of seriously ill and hospitalised children and young people. The Foundation is Australia’s broadest reaching children’s charity and through its range of initiatives is recognised as an integral part of the healthcare system.

Under the renewed sponsorship agreement, South32 will support the Starlight Children’s Foundation’s Livewire Online wellbeing initiative. Livewire Online is an innovative program designed to provide vital support for adolescents who may be experiencing isolation, stress or anxiety as a result of hospitalisation, chronic health conditions, serious illness or disability.

It is a unique, member-only online community which is actively moderated, safe, and secure. Accessible to those at home or in hospital, the program is available 24 hours a day and is a place where young people can connect and interact with others facing similar challenges in living with serious health conditions.

The program is available to young people aged 12 to 20 across Australia and New Zealand, with 40 per cent of members living in regional or remote areas.

South32 will also continue to support the annual Starlight Children’s Foundation Purple Haze AFL game in Western Australia, by matching funding raised by fans and the local community.

Our CEO Graham Kerr said: “We are very proud to renew our sponsorship of the Starlight Children’s Foundation and continue to support their great work across Australia and New Zealand.

“The Starlight Children’s Foundation’s Livewire program is an important initiative that supports youth mental health by connecting teens and young people living with chronic illness or disability through a safe online community.

“Our partnership with Livewire Online furthers our commitment to initiatives supporting good health and wellbeing in the communities where we operate.”
