A scholarship helped Jade achieve her career goals.

We love to see more women making their mark in mining, and Jade Singleton, Specialist Asset Planning Engineer from our Australia Region Planning & Development team, is an outstanding example. Jade has a double degree in Mining Engineering/Commerce from the Western Australian School of Mines, and joined South32 in 2015.

In 2017, Jade was awarded a scholarship for the upcoming Women In Mining WA (WIMWA) Mentoring Programme. Provided by the WA Department of Local Government and Communities, the Scholarship helps to strengthen the positive profile of women through a range of initiatives, with the aim of addressing the under-representation of women in senior positions in the workforce and on company Boards.

Jade worked with a mentor who gave her experience-based career guidance and helped her develop her career goals.

"I am excited about this opportunity and looking forward to learning from an exceptional industry leader. It will be valuable to gain their insights on how they developed their career and, with their assistance and guidance, increase my knowledge base on the possibilities and how best to realise them," said Jade before commencing the programme.

"I love working for South32. I'm very excited to continue growing my skills set in a company with a vibe that is invigorating, and to now be in a position to be mentored through the WIMWA programme can only benefit my development both personally and professionally as an individual in the mining sector," she said.
