What is it like to work for South32?

Is there an induction process for employees?

All employees participate in an induction process for their work area, with training provided on health and safety requirements, our purpose and values, and our standards of behaviour as documented in our Code of Business Conduct and anti-corruption policy.

What can I expect to be paid?

We aim to attract and retain the best people and we are committed to performance-based remuneration and rewards that are aligned to the local market. Your actual remuneration package depends on your position, location of work and your performance in the role.

How do I apply for a job?

You will need to submit your application online in response to one of our advertised vacancies. 

After you submit your online application we’ll send you an automated response, confirming we’ve received your submission. A South32 recruiter and hiring manager will review your skills, experience and suitability against the role requirements and then inform you if your application is to be progressed in the selection process. If you’re not successful on that occasion, we’ll retain your resume in our database for future reference and opportunities.

What if I forget my user name and password?

The first time you apply for a position using the South32 application process you will be asked to enter your email address (username), and create a password and secret question. When you return to South32’s application system, it will remember your email address and prompt you to enter your password.

If you forget your password you’ll have to click on the "Forgotten your Password?" link. You’ll then be presented with your secret question which you have to answer before your password is resent to your email address.

If you are unable to answer your secret question, please contact us so a new password can be generated and sent to your email address.

What happens in the selection process?

Our application process may include any of the following:

•    online application (submission of your CV and a cover letter introducing yourself)
•    abilities testing
•    telephone interview
•    interviews where we ask behaviour-based questions
•    site visit
•    background and reference checks
•    medical checks
