We’re proud to be part of the unique community on Groote Eylandt
On Groote Eylandt, in the Northern Territory of Australia, we’re working with Traditional Owners to build a sustainable future by promoting a successful local economy and preserving Indigenous culture and customs.
Our Groote Eylandt Mining Company has teamed up with the Anindilyakwa Land Council to establish the Economic Development Committee – a project that aims to foster the island’s long-term economic security.
The committee, which also includes Social Ventures Australia, looks at employment opportunities for local people, and explore economic development opportunities. In February 2017, we took part in a workshop to create plans for promoting future investment and employment.
Our commitment is to work with everyone who has a say in the future of Groote Eylandt, from the Traditional Owners to the Northern Territory and Australian Governments and others, and we’re pleased to be a part of this amazing community.
