Volunteering for emergency service is a selfless act, and it can often take the volunteer into challenging situations. So for a person like Andrew Taylor to volunteer across several emergency services for over thirty years is an extraordinary achievement.
A HSE Lead at TEMCO, Andrew was awarded a national Emergency Services Medal as part of Australia Day Honours 2017 for his dedication to keeping the community safe and putting his own life at risk to save others. His record includes volunteering with the Tasmania Fire Service, the State Emergency Service, Ambulance Tasmania and the George Town Municipal Council.
Andrew said that receiving the Australia Day honour was " surreal" - we say it is an honour very well deserved.
