GEMCO champion recognised as inclusion and diversity leader

08 JUNE 2026

Congratulations to Jeanine Brown, Occupational Health Nurse at our GEMCO operation, who has been named winner of the Inclusion and Diversity Champion category at the Northern Territory Women in Resources Awards.

Jeanine brings more than 20 years’ experience as an occupational health nurse in the mining industry and is known for the way she supports and mentors others, leads with compassion and helps create safer, more inclusive workplaces.

“Working in the resources industry is ultimately about saving lives. As a nurse, that’s what I’m here to do. It hasn’t always been easy being a woman in this field, but those experiences have helped shape who I am today,” she said.

Jeanine is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in nursing through Charles Darwin University, continuing to build her expertise while setting a strong example for women pursuing careers in the industry.

Outside of work, Jeanine is also a boxing champion and resilience coach, supporting women through Darwin’s first trauma-focused boxing program.

Whether caring for people at work, studying to further her profession, or supporting women in the community, Jeanine continues to make a meaningful impact within our business and beyond.

“From the ring, I have learned about the importance of recovery and have come to understand firsthand how stress, fatigue, and mindset can impact performance. Apply that to our workplace, and we must create an environment where our people feel safe, supported, and empowered to speak up when they don't feel they can guarantee safe outcomes,” she said.
